Last year December I completed 5KM open water swimming in Langkawi Oceanman event. Just few months before the event, I bought my first bike TRIBAN 520 ROAD BIKE – BLACK/WHITE (Appx RM 2799 – exclude fittings). I started to bike on weekday evenings. However cycling in Subang Jaya is a little challenging when most drivers are very emotional (you know why). Of course, there is no doubt that it is one of the most enjoyable leisure activities out there.
In February 2019, I signed up for CIMB Cycle Challenge Ride 80KM. It was a very spontaneous decision, just because I believe learning by doing.
Nothing! I did not practice for the race. All I know was I’m going to learn something from the event by finishing the race or by dropping the race.
These are the things I had with me during the race day.
- Jersey (Official jersey by CIMB)
- RFID Tag & Stickers
- Helmet attached with GoPro session4
- 2 Water bottles
- Hand pump
- Saddle bag with
- Spare tube
- Tube Lever
- 1 x Oat Snicker
- Phone covered with plastic (just incase raining)
- Apple Watch
- Passionately curious soul
This year over 3,700 people from 26 countries participated in the race. The event was flag off by Malaysia sports minister Syed Saddiq.
Overall the route was very challenging for me. So many mountain roads and 36 degree celsius heat – it was a sun burn! But the great thing is, I successfully completed the race!!
Here is my GoPro recording of the ride start to finish line (with skips to save battery);
If you are thinking to race, not tomorrow, do it today!
